Nordic Power Analysis

We continuously calculate changes in the hydrological balance - the energy value of the hydrological system - as a function of precipitation, snow reserves and inflow. In addition we monitor the supply of nuclear power and thermal production, the prices of coal, oil and gas, expected consumption and exchange between the Nordic region and the surroundings. Our Nordic Analysis is distributed via our web-portal MKonline, and comprises the following modules:

Nordic Hydrology and Wind forecast

  • Monthly Hydrological Report containing a monthly review and evaluation of the hydrological situation in Norway and Sweden.
  • Weekly Hydrological Report with updated hydrological balance, inflow, snow and hydro reservoir for Norway and Sweden. Updated twice a week.
  • Daily Hydrology Report with estimated and measured precipitation, hydrological balance, inflow prognosis for Norway and Sweden. Updated several times daily.
  • HBV Report on inflow, ground-/soil- and snow resevoir by region in Norway and Sweden. Updated daily.
  • Wind report - Denmark/Sweden/Norway. Updated twice daily, presented as hourly forecast.
  • Temperature Indexes - Denmark/Sweden/Norway/Finland. Updated four times every day.

Long Term Price Forecast Nord Pool

The current 2007-release covers the period 2008-2030. The forecast to 2017 is made by running the Multi Area Power Simulator, reflecting explicit assumptions for new grid connections as well as new generation capacity. The Multi Area Power Simulator is a stochastic dynamic programming model which simulates the functioning of the Nordic electricity system based on historic precipitation, wind and temperature.
